Policies

In accord with the HIPAA regulations and our long-standing policies, Oncology Care Consultants' staff strives to make your medical records as accurate as possible and available for your review, while maintaining your confidentiality. However, for medical/ legal reasons, it is important for you to understand that all medical records are the property of this practice and must be protected.

Therefore we have established the following policies:

Appointment Policies

The physicians and staff of Oncology Care Consultants respect your time and do their best to stay on schedule. Please help us to stay on time by arriving 30 minutes before your first visit and 15 minutes before all other visits in order to complete and update your registration information.

A patient who arrives up to 15 minutes after his/her scheduled appointment may be registered and worked into the schedule if possible. If it is not possible, then the patient will have to reschedule.

A $25 fee will be applied if a patient:

does not arrive for his/her scheduled appointment.
is more than 15 minutes late for his/her scheduled appointment.
requests to reschedule or cancel with less than 24 hours notice before his/her scheduled appointment.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please contact us at (301) 662-8477 at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment and we will be happy to accommodate you.

Emergency Care

If you are having an emergency, please call 911. If you have an urgent problem, we have a physician on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can reach the physician by calling the office number, (301) 662-8477. After regular office hours, the physician on call will return your call as soon as possible.

Telephone Calls

If you are having an emergency, please call 911. Please call the office if you have any questions regarding your medical condition, medications, and/or treatment. Most of the time a nurse will return your call and can answer most questions that you may have. Telephone calls, which are not emergencies, will be returned between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. and after 4 p.m.
