Cancer Risk Assessment Program
Insurance
Our Cancer Risk Assessment Team consists of a medical oncologist, a nurse practitioner, and a social worker who are knowledgeable about hereditary cancer and its physical, psychological, and financial implications. Insurance may or may not cover these office visits or laboratory testing. Therefore, we ask that you check with your insurance carrier regarding coverage for cancer risk assessment and genetic testing. If your insurance plan does not cover cancer risk assessment, payment will be expected at the time services are rendered. Most people will generally require one to two visits. The company who performs the genetic testing, if indicated, will bill separately. You will be notified, in advance, of all related costs.
Emergency Care
If you are having an emergency, please call 911. If you have an urgent problem, we have a physician on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can reach the physician by calling the office number, (301) 662-8477. After regular office hours, the physician on call will return your call as soon as possible.
Telephone Calls
If you are having an emergency, please call 911. Please call the office if you have any questions regarding your medical condition, medications, and/or treatment. Most of the time a nurse will return your call and can answer most questions that you may have. Telephone calls, which are not emergencies, will be returned between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. and after 4 p.m.
